FAQ

Why are the children outside all day?

We find that keeping the children outside allows both body and mind to acclimate to the outdoor experience.  Without the expectation of inside time, the child comes prepared and excited to fully immerse him or herself in nature, and in the rhythms of shelter seeking, fire tending, outdoor cooking and outdoor play. Studies also show that prolonged exposure to fresh air boosts the immune system, decreases anxiety and increases cognitive ability. Being outside is natural and easy for children, and it is good for them!

What if my child is cold or wet?

With proper gear, there is no reason your child will need to be cold or wet. We give each family a very specific gear list that allows for optimal outdoor comfort.

What is the daily schedule?

School begins at 9:00 AM and ends at 1:00 PM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Aftercare is available for up to three children.

What is the daily rhythm?

It is helpful for young children to have a predictable daily rhythm. When they become familiar with how their day will unfold, they are able to relax into their routine and engage most fully with the activities before them.
